I extracted the content from each section of the website and conducted a card-sort to gain other viewpoints on the structure of the current website.
Then I asked a pool of parents to categorize cards into different groups that make sense to them. As an open card sort, participants generated their own categories.
The participant’s results included:
This activity was insightful and was used as a data source to consider the overall evaluation of the website. Using this data as well as other criteria and my own intuition helped me create a proposed design.
I called the school director with the initial proposal. The section in gray were areas that needed confirmation. With the information I gathered from the card sort, the initial proposal and the call - I was able to move on to produce a final site map and wireframe.
I assisted St. Mark's Preschool and Kindergarten with their information architecture by identifying what types of information is needed, so that they can produce an organized and revised website. I created a plan to pull their content together in one seamless document. Overall, they want to create a community that fosters growth for their students and they want to have a website to represent that. My assistance with this project helped target their pain points and navigate them in the right direction.
